Work out the real numbers

Grams, 10 grams, tola, sovereign, baht and troy ounce — with purity. These are the figures you need when standing at a jeweller or bank counter.

Value & melt calculator

Enter a weight and purity to see today’s pure-metal (melt) value at spot.

Enter a quote to compare with spot metal value.

Melt value is the spot value of the pure metal only. Real shop prices add making charges, taxes, duties and dealer margins, so a positive premium is normal — especially for jewellery.

Local market & popular sellers

Well-known sellers for your region, plus the local pricing realities — taxes, duties and the forms people actually buy.

These sellers are listed for general reference only — not endorsements, and not live quotes. Estimated bands apply a typical premium to the current spot price and will differ from each seller’s actual price, which reflects live premiums, availability, taxes, import duties and (for jewellery) making charges. Always confirm the current price on the seller’s own website.

Market factors worth watching

Precious-metal prices are influenced by several connected markets. These are the factors investors commonly monitor when interpreting current movement.

These factors are educational context, not a claim about the cause of today’s movement.

Understanding these prices

A spot quote is a market reference. The amount paid at a jeweller or bullion dealer will usually differ.

Troy ounce, gram, tola, baht

Metals trade in troy ounces (31.1035 g). A tola is 11.6638 g, a sovereign/pavan is taken as 8 g, and a Thai baht of gold is 15.244 g at 96.5% purity.

24K and 22K gold

24K is near-pure. 22K (916) is about 91.7% gold; the metal value scales with purity, before making charges, tax or dealer margin.

Spot price and retail price

Spot is the wholesale market reference. Coins, bars and jewellery trade above it because they are finished retail products.

These are spot-market reference prices. Retail jewellery and bullion prices may include taxes, dealer premiums, fabrication costs, making charges and local market spreads.

Methodology and data sources

Live quotes and daily context are kept separate so the interface does not imply more certainty than the source data supports.

How prices and comparisons are calculated
Current USD spot references come from Gold API. Currency conversion and daily historical references come from Frankfurter. Local prices multiply the USD quote by the latest available FX rate. Grams use 31.1034768 g per troy ounce; tola = 11.6638 g; sovereign = 8 g; baht = 15.244 g; 22K uses 22/24 of the metal value. History uses daily closes (weekly/monthly for long ranges). Calculator, holdings and alert data stay in your browser’s local storage and are never sent to a server. Seller estimates apply a typical premium band to spot and are never fetched per seller — confirm live prices on each seller’s site.
